When guests ask how the couple found me as their wedding celebrant, the answer is usually through my website, Instagram, or being recommended by their wedding venue. I rarely advertise on Facebook, so it was a huge surprise when Mia reached out to me - a former childhood friend I hadn't seen in 18 years.
She explained that she'd seen the one and only Facebook post I'd ever shared about my wedding celebrant business and had taken a screenshot of it before she was even engaged, just in case she ever needed my services. Well… it turns out she did!
A celebrant-led wedding ceremony at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat
After becoming engaged to the lovely Owen, Mia got in touch a few months later and asked me not only to marry them but also to attend their wedding as a guest. Having not seen Mia for nearly two decades, it was an incredibly emotional request.
Despite having another wedding in England just a few days later, I happily travelled to Pembrokeshire, Wales, to deliver Mia and Owen's celebrant-led wedding ceremony at the beautiful Gellifawr Woodland Retreat.
A personal wedding ceremony inspired by farming and family
Mia and Owen are both farmers, and their love story began when Mia relocated from England to Wales to pursue her passion for horses. With Mia being English and Owen proudly Welsh, they wanted a wedding ceremony that felt traditional while still being deeply personal.
Their shared love of farming naturally became a thread woven throughout their ceremony and love story, creating something that truly reflected who they are as a couple.
The couple also wanted to include their six-year-old son in a meaningful way. I suggested hiding the wedding rings beneath his seat so he could "discover" them during the ceremony. It became one of the most memorable and joyful moments of the day, helped along brilliantly by the best man's convincing performance of pretending he'd lost the rings!
