Katie & Ryan’s magical woodland wedding at Two Woods Estate, West Suse
Some weddings just make you feel alive, and Ryan and Katie’s wedding at Two Woods Estate was undoubtedly one of those. Full of meaningful traditions, beautiful music and personal touches, it was a wonderful example of how a celebrant-led wedding ceremony can be both deeply personal and truly memorable.
A unique wedding venue in West Sussex
Ryan and Katie first discovered me through my website after Two Woods Estate recommended my wedding celebrant services. Having visited this incredible West Sussex venue the year before, I was thrilled to be returning to create a personalised wedding ceremony for such a lovely couple.
There really is nowhere quite like Two Woods Estate. Its enchanting woodland setting and atmospheric surroundings make it a truly special place to get married, providing the perfect backdrop for a ceremony filled with love, personality and meaning.
With their Scottish heritage, Ryan and Katie were drawn to a celebrant-led wedding ceremony, giving them the freedom to tell their love story, honour their traditions and include symbolic rituals that reflected who they are as a couple.
Handfasting, personal vows and Scottish traditions
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the couple’s handfasting ritual. Already familiar with this beautiful tradition, Ryan and Katie chose a handfasting cord in soft pastel shades, which was tied into an infinity knot to symbolise their enduring bond.
Handfasting is a wonderful way to incorporate symbolism into a wedding ceremony, and this moment was particularly special for the couple and their guests.
They also included a signing during the ceremony, inviting their best man and maid of honour to sign their celebrant-made wedding certificate. It was a lovely way to involve two important people in their lives and make the occasion even more personal.
Another special moment came when Ryan and Katie exchanged their personal vows, which they crafted with my support. Personal vows are such a meaningful part of a celebrant-led ceremony, allowing couples to express their love and promises in their own words.
And, of course, no Scottish-inspired wedding would be complete without kilts!
Their Scottish heritage was woven beautifully throughout the day, bringing together tradition and individuality in a way that felt completely authentic to them.
Beautiful music at Two Woods Estate
Adding to the atmosphere was a live cellist, whose music resonated beautifully through the trees and up into the endless autumn sky. There is something incredibly special about live music during a wedding ceremony, and the cello complemented the woodland surroundings perfectly, creating a wonderfully intimate and emotional atmosphere. Somebody pass the tissues!
Every element of Ryan and Katie’s ceremony had been thoughtfully chosen, from the handfasting and personal vows to the music and Scottish traditions. Together, these details created a wedding ceremony that felt unique, heartfelt and entirely their own.
A truly personal wedding ceremony
Ryan and Katie’s wedding at Two Woods Estate was a wonderful reminder of what makes being a wedding celebrant in Surrey so rewarding. Every couple has their own story, and a celebrant-led ceremony offers the freedom to bring that story to life in a way that reflects their relationship, values and personalities.
